Calculator
Mexico import duty calculator
Estimates what a definitive import would pay on the customs entry: general or preferential IGI duty by trade agreement, the DTA processing fee, prevalidation and VAT. It tells you which of the three duty rates applies, and why.
- Line-by-line breakdown of the entry, with the base for every charge
- The same shipment compared with and without a certificate of origin
- Origin comparison: what you would pay buying from another country
- NOM standards, permits and importer-registry sectors flagged by the tariff
Where the data comes from
Official sources, and nothing else
This is the boring part, and it is what makes the tool worth using. Each layer is rebuilt by a script from its official publication, so every number can be traced back.
- 01 The tariff
- Mexico’s LIGIE with its amending decrees in force, plus the SNICE tariff-line file.
- 02 The preferences
- Applicable-rate agreements by treaty published in the DOF, using the current year’s phase-out column.
- 03 The regulations
- Annex 2.4.1 of the Ministry of Economy’s Rules for NOM standards, and Annex 10 of the RGCE for importer-registry sectors.
- 04 Nothing proprietary
- No commercial third-party database is used as a source for what we publish. It all comes from documents anyone can open.
The honest part
What a tool does not replace
A sound estimate helps you decide. It does not help you declare. That difference matters, and it is better said upfront.
- The result is an estimate: the actual entry is determined by the shipment, not by a calculator.
- Tariff classification remains the importer’s responsibility. If the tariff line is wrong, everything downstream is too.
- Cases with quotas, seasonality, mixed duties or special conditions are flagged as “review”, not resolved.
- Customs value depends on your actual transaction — dutiable additions, related parties and royalties included.
When an estimate is no longer enough
The whole operation, through one point of contact
Classification, customs regime, programs, clearance, transport and warehousing under one provider and one invoice. If the number worried you, that is where the work happens.
